Beatrice Kubheka:
Managing Director

Beatrice has been working in the media, marketing and advertising field for over 30 years and has extensive experience and insight into the black market. She frequently presents these insights at various organizations in South Africa and is highly regarded for the perceptive knowledge of this market as well as the manner in which she presents it.

Beatrice started out at Bates Advertising South Africa as a Research Executive where she acquired a good reputation from highlighting the then ignored potential of the black market. In 1989 Beatrice became Research Director of what would later be known as DDB South Africa. Beatrice then became Research Managing Director of Marketing and Media Research, the research arm of Independent Newspapers.

In 2003 Beatrice founded African Response and has been Managing Director since then.

In 2005, Beatrice was awarded the AMF Platinum Award in recognition of a lifetime of outstanding service in the South African Media industry.


Gerard Naidoo:
Operations Director

Born and raised on the East Rand, Gerard began his career whilst writing Matric, as an administration clerk for ABSA. His enthusiasm and aptitude ensured a quick progression leading ultimately to his current position as a Director of African Response in 2003. Gerard’s expertise lies in identifying and implementing solutions for optimising efficiency. Recognition for this proficiency was awarded in 2002 when he received the inaugural Proactive Insight Innovations Award for creating a development tool for database reports. The following year, he won the inaugural Employee of the Year Award.

Philip Sparks:
Research Manager

Bcomm Economics (UNISA)

Philip began as a trainee researcher at Proactive Insight in 1996. After training for three years, he went on to become a researcher. After a further two years of gaining extensive research experiencing and working with a variety of clients, Philip moved to African Response where he worked as a specialist senior researcher. Philip is now Research Manager for African Response.
