Working together to make the 2010 FIFA World Cup a success!

BRYANSTON – In spite of the current electricity shortage, 62% of South Africans agree that our nation will pull it together to make the 2010 work, according to market research company African Response.

In view of the significance that this great event holds to most South Africans, African Response polled 400 respondents representative of the major cities in South Africa (Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and Pretoria). Respondents were asked whether they think that South Africans will make a plan to ensure the success of the 2010.

Clearly the majority of South Africans are confident in our ability to host a successful 2010 FIFA World Cup. This in spite of power cuts which are being experienced throughout the country at the moment. However, of the 400 people polled, 21% indicated their doubt and 17% were unsure.

Is South Africa set to host the 2010 FIFA World Cup?

African Response’s 2010 Barometer is a monthly poll which was established to track public perceptions on the progress of South Africa’s preparations for the 2010 Soccer World Cup.

67% of South Africans agree that our country will be ready, according to African Responses latest 2010 Barometer reading. While confidence remains high, it has dropped by 6% from the last month’s measurement. This drop was anticipated given the recent negativity related to power cuts experienced throughout the country.

March’s results represent the views of 400 respondents interviewed in Durban, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town in February this year.

The full African Response Barometer is released on a quarterly basis. Previous reports can be found at www.africanresponse.co.za
