Will 2010 encourage sportier South African schools?

BRYANSTON – According to BEE market research company African Response, 71% of South Africans believe that hosting the 2010 FIFA World Cup will popularise sporting activities in South African schools. This is yet another beneficial consequence of hosting this esteemed event!

With 2010 just around the corner, African Response investigated what kind of perceived impact the sporty hype would have on the South African youth. 400 respondents representative of the major metropolitan areas in South Africa (Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town) were asked to what extent they agree that hosting the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa will promote sporting activities in our schools.

The majority of respondents (71%) were completely confident that schools would become sportier. On the other side of the scale, 7% disagreed that schools would catch the sporty bug while 22% of respondents were impartial on the topic.

Will South Africa be ready to host a successful 2010 FIFA World Cup?

In this month’s monthly barometer reading, 68% of South Africans expressed that they were confident in South Africa’s readiness!

May’s results represent the views of 400 respondents who where interviewed in April this year. Respondents were interviewed in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town.
